NEAR NORTH SIDE — Thieves are stealing from cars in parking garages on the Near North Side area, including in the Gold Coast and River North, police said.
There have been five similar incidents within the last 30 days. In all of the incidents, the thieves break the car windows before stealing items within the car, according to a police alert.
The incidents occurred:
• Jan. 25 in the 100 block of East Ontario Street
• Jan. 25 in the 100 block of West Kinzie Street
• Feb. 7 in the 700 block of North Rush Street
• Feb. 9 in the 100 block of West Chestnut Street
• Feb. 19 in the 700 block of North Rush Street
All of the thefts occurred during early morning hours, police said.
