LINCOLN PARK — There's a new way to give back to needy kids in Lincoln Park.

Nonprofit Cradles to Crayons has opened a new drop-off location in the neighborhood at 2535 N. Clark St., a site that's occupied by Reebie Storage and Moving Co.

The Boston-based organization, which launched in 2002, serves low-income or homeless children up to 12 years old by donating new or like-new goods, including clothing, shoes, winter gear, books, school supplies, baby gear and more.

According to engagement coordinator Kelsey Miklos, the items are sorted by a group of volunteers in a warehouse called The Giving Factory. The volunteers then hand-pick the items based on the needs of each child.

The new drop-off site will join other city locations in River North, Logan Square, Lakeview and Beverly. The organization runs additional drop-off sites in the suburbs and Evanston. For a full list, visit the organization's website.

To donate, folks are encouraged to drop off their items in a giant box at the above address. Enter Reebie Storage through the alleyway on the south side of the building. The box is situated near the loading dock in the parking lot.

But those who have a lot to donate (or those who just need a tax receipt) should contact Miklos directly at 419-340-3764.

Not sure what's acceptable to donate? We've included the organization's donation guidelines below:
