CHICAGO — A man died early Sunday after being shot in Chatham, police said.
At 10:05 p.m. Saturday, the man was standing outside in the 8100 block of South Harvard when a car drove by and someone inside shot at him, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
He was initially taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, but was pronounced dead there Sunday morning, officials said.
He was identified as Carlos James Hemphill, 33, of the 9100 block of South Claremont, in Cook County Medical Examiner's records.
Hours before Hemphill was shot, two men were wounded in a drive-by shooting a block away in the 8000 block of South Stewart at 7:10 p.m. Saturday.
