LINCOLN PARK — It's almost time for Chicagoans to jump into freezing Lake Michigan for charity.

This year's Polar Plunge is set for March 6 at North Ave. beach, 1603 N. Lake Shore Drive. The plunging will begin at 10 a.m.

Like previous years, this 16th annual event will raise money for Special Olympics Chicago.

Last year, Vince Vaughn was the VIP, or Very Important Plunger. The year before that Jimmy Fallon and Mayor Rahm Emanuel joined in on the fun.

No word yet on which, if any, celebrities will partake in this year's event.

The organization didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Folks are encouraged to register online.
