Old Town Shooting Might Have Happened Elsewhere, Police Source Says

CHICAGO — A 20-year-old man who said he was shot and wounded while in Old Town Saturday night might have actually been shot elsewhere, police said.

At 9:20 p.m. Saturday, the man told police he was a passenger in a car getting off Lake Shore Drive at the North Avenue exit when he was shot, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was hit in his side and back and took himself to Northwestern Hospital in serious condition, Estrada said.

After an initial investigation, a law enforcement source Monday morning said there are reasons to believe the shooting might have occurred elsewhere. There were no calls for shots fired and no shell casings found at the location the victim gave, the source said. But authorities have not yet found the crime scene to prove the shooting happened elsewhere, the source added.
