1 Dead, 9 Wounded In Citywide Shootings Since Friday Afternoon, Police Say

CHICAGO — One person has died and nine others were wounded in shootings throughout Chicago since 4 p.m. Friday, according to police.

A 20-year-old man was fatally shot in Auburn Gresham late Friday night, the first fatality of the weekend, police said.

• Most recently, a 17-year-old was wounded in a Auburn Gresham shooting.

He was walking in the 8200 block of South Paulina Street at 4:22 a.m. when someone opened fire, striking him in the back, said Officer Ana Pacheco, Chicago Police spokeswoman.

He was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center and is listed in critical condition, Pacheco said.

• A 20-year-old man was shot in West Ridge early Saturday, Pacheco said.

The man was in the 6300 block of North Western Avenue at 3:10 a.m. when he was injured in a possible drive-by shooting, Pacheco said.

He was struck in his right leg and right arm and was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in "stable" condition, Pacheco said.

Two people were injured — including one woman shot in the head — in a shooting outside a South Loop nightclub early Saturday, Pacheco said.

• A 61-year-old man was shot after getting into an argument in Chatham Friday night, Pacheco said.

The man was in the 9300 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue at 8:30 p.m. when he got into a confrontation with someone who then pulled out a gun, Pacheco said.

He was struck in his leg and groin and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in "stable" condition, Pacheco said. Police could not say more about the extent of his injuries.

• A 21-year-old man was injured in a Brighton Park shooting Friday evening, Pacheco said.

He was in the 4600 block of South Albany Avenue at 7:40 p.m. when someone opened fire before fleeing in a car, she said. The man was struck in his back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in "stable" condition, Pacheco said.

• A 20-year-old man was shot in East Garfield Park Friday evening, Pacheco said.

The man was walking in the 3400 block of West Van Buren Street at 6:38 p.m. when he was fired upon, Pacheco said. He was struck in the leg and groin and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in "stable" condition, she said.

• A few minutes before that, a 16-year-old boy was shot in East Garfield Park Friday night, Pacheco said.

He was shot while in the 2700 block of West Flournoy Street at 6:24 p.m. when someone in a passing car opened fire, Pacheco said. The boy was struck in the chest and managed to get himself to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in "stable" condition.

Police could not say more about the extent of his injuries. The boy is a documented gang member, according to police.

• A 24-year-old man was shot in Austin Friday afternoon, according to Pacheco.

He was shot in the leg while in the 4600 block of West Monroe Street at 4:32 p.m., she said. The man, a documented gang member, refused medical care and was being uncooperative with officers, police said.
