JEFFERSON PARK — A couple is asking neighbors to look out for their six-month-old Labrador puppy named Cody, who ran away after gusty winds in Chicago knocked down their fence Friday afternoon.

Danielle and Scott Pryor live at Foster and Leamington avenues in Jefferson Park. Scott, 54, was about to take their pup Cody for a walk around 4 p.m. Friday. He checked the gates in the yard to make sure they were all secure, then let Cody into the yard while he went to the washroom.

"It was like three minutes, tops," said Danielle, 38. But in that short amount of time, a fence panel was blown over in the gusting wind, which the National Weather Service clocked in the 60 miles-per-hour range on Friday.

Cody ran off, and the Pryors are especially worried because he hasn't been microchipped yet and he wasn't wearing his collar at the time. Cody weighs about 50-55 pounds.

"He's a loving and friendly pup," Danielle said. "He's loved a lot and his family wants him home."

She said there was no other damage to their home, "just [the] stupid fence panel."

Anyone with information about Cody's whereabouts should contact Danielle Pryor at 773-909-9499.
