HYDE PARK — Seriously, is Donald Trump a fascist? The Seminary Cooperative Bookstore is hosting an open debate Wednesday to answer the question.

As the front runner for the Republican presidential nomination, Trump has continued to rise in popularity despite his polarizing rhetoric, an commentators on both sides of the spectrum have accused him of being a "fascist."

Retired University of Illinois at Chicago political science professor Isaac Balbus, who hosts a monthly series of public conversations about culture and politics at the bookstore at 5751 S. Woodlawn Ave., will tackle the thorny topic of Trump for February.

Rick Perlstein, author of “The Invisible Bridge: The Fall of Nixon and the Rise of Reagan,” will discuss the issue with Balbus before turning to the audience for more ideas.

The conversation starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday and is free and open to the public.
