LINCOLN PARK — Whether you're in a steady relationship or flying solo, Valentine's Day is an excuse to eat tasty food, do something fun or get together with the person (or people) you love.

We've got some ideas, most of which will keep you close to the neighborhood on this chilly weekend.

Romantic Farm-to-Table Dinner: There's no shortage of romantic restaurants to choose from in Lincoln Park. There's Perennial Virant, 1800 N. Lincoln Ave., which is offering a four-course tasting menu complete with poached lobster, beef ribeye and dark chocolate cake Friday, Saturday and Sunday for $75 per person. (Reservations via phone are encouraged.) North Pond, 2610 N. Cannon Drive, is also offering a tasting menu Sunday for $125 per person. It's on the edge of a pond — how much more romantic can it get?

See a Comedy Show: Get a group of your best single guys or gals together and laugh about the perils of love at "Ex's and Oh No's!," a one-night only improv show Saturday at Second City's De Maat Studio Theater. General admission tickets cost $13 and can be bought online.

Heart-Shaped Pizza: For those who would rather stay in, we recommend hitting up a local pizza joint for heart-shaped pizza, or heck — regular pizza, and then heading home to watch a movie on Netflix. Because pizza and Netflix equals love. Zoom Pizza Factory, 2156 N. Clybourn Ave., is one spot offering the heart-shaped variety this year.

Write Love Letters on Vintage Typewriters: OK, so the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel isn't in Lincoln Park, but we couldn't resist including the Downtown hotel's Valentine's Day event. On Saturday and Sunday, love birds can visit the hotel, 12 S. Michigan Ave., to type up love letters on vintage typewriters and the hotel will mail them out. Folks can also pick up pretty floral bouquets at Madison Hall, one of the hotel's trendy shops.

Skating at Lincoln Park Zoo: Skate hand-in-hand with your significant other Sunday at Lincoln Park Zoo from noon-8 p.m. You can either bring your own skates or a rent a pair there. Either way, it's a cute (and cheap!) way to spend the holiday.
