COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — The couple that attacked paramedics on a CTA platform Sunday had been involved in a domestic dispute moments earlier, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Robert Adams, 42, and girlfriend Cherise Finley, 21, are charged with aggravated battery.

Paramedics were called to the Harrison Red Line platform about 10 p.m. Sunday to check on Finley, who was intoxicated, according to police and prosecutors.

When paramedics tried to assist Finley, she fell over and couldn't stand back up, an arrest report said.

In an effort to keep paramedics away from Finley, Adams spit at one of the paramedics and punched both — a 26-year-old man and 37-year-old woman — in their faces, court records show.

Finley also punched one of the paramedics, prosecutors said.

During a bond hearing Tuesday, Assistant State's Attorney Erin Antonietti said Finley and Adams had been fighting before paramedics arrived.

The pair tried to flee the CTA station after assaulting the paramedics, but were arrested about 10:30 p.m. in the 900 block of South State Street, court records show.

Adams, who lives with Finley in the 2700 block of West Harrison Street, has prior convictions for aggravated criminal sexual assault, failing to register as a sex offender and trespassing on state land, among others.

Finley has two unrelated pending cases for criminal trespass and assault. She was previously convicted of retail theft and criminal trespass.

Cook County Judge James Brown on Tuesday ordered Adams held in lieu of $90,000 bail. Finley's bail was set at $75,000.
