CHICAGO — Fire Department paramedics were attacked after responding to a call of an intoxicated person on the Red Line platform Sunday, police said.
The paramedics were called to the Harrison Red Line platform at 10:30 p.m. Sunday to respond to reports of an intoxicated woman, police said in a news release Monday.
Paramedics walked toward the woman, Cherise Finley, but were cut off by Robert Adams, who punched the paramedics in the face and body before spitting on them, according to police.
Finley, of the 1400 block of South Canal Street, then punched a paramedic in the face, police said.
The two then fled the scene and were caught following a foot pursuit in the 900 block of South State Street, police said.
Adams, of the 270 block of West Harrison Street, and Finley were both charged with aggravated battery to a protected employee, a felony. They are due to make their initial appearance in court on Tuesday, police said.
The paramedics were treated and released from Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.
