ALBANY PARK — Gurnee Donuts took the top prize at last weekend's Donut Fest, but you don't need to schlep to the 'burbs to taste what all the fuss is about.

Cafe Chien, 4749 N. Spaulding Ave., will have dozens of Gurnee's award-winning purple yam "Ube" doughnuts for sale on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Lucky for Albany Park-ers, the cafe's owner, Maxine Chaikouang, is pals with Kevin Lee, whose father opened Gurnee Donuts in 1994. DNAinfo Chicago caught up with Lee at the inaugural Donut Fest in 2014 where he hinted at someday opening a Chicago outpost of the family business.

Doughnuts are sure to sell out quickly on Sunday. Cafe Chien is taking preorders for a half-dozen or a dozen Ubes. The cost is $18 for six or $36 for 12. Individual doughnuts will sell for $3.

To order, call 312-493-2658 or email cafechienchicago@gmail.com.
