HYDE PARK — Tennis courts in Hyde Park and Oakland are getting redone as part of a $325,000 grant to the Chicago Park District from Coca-Cola.
Tennis courts in Nichols Park in Hyde Park and Mandrake Park in Oakland are being resurfaced and receiving a new coat of paint and new nets through $120,000 from the grant, the Park District announced Monday.
The repairs are part of a series of projects funded by the grant from the Coca-Cola Company and Great Lakes Coca-Cola Distribution.
Other South Side parks getting a portion of the funding include renovations at the center at Rainbow Beach and more outdoor space at Calumet Park.
A $75,000 portion of the grant will help fund the Fit Box program, Summer Fitness Fests and the Citywide Championship for the Summer Basketball League.
“These investments are a natural extension of our strong partnership with the Chicago Park District and will continue to have a positive impact on improving the quality of life for thousands of Chicago residents throughout the Chicago Park District,” said Andrew Reyes, general manager of the Chicago business unit of Great Lakes Coca-Cola Distribution. “We are happy to support these valuable resources and programs to enhance the community.”
