LINCOLN PARK — A 39-year-old woman was attacked and mugged during daylight hours in Lincoln Park Thursday.

Around 11:55 a.m., the woman found a man smashing the windows of her car in the 1900 block of North Sheffield Avenue so she confronted him, which led the man to push her to the ground and steal her purse, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

The man ran southbound, Pacheco added.

The victim was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where she was treated for a possible broken shoulder, Pacheco said.

Police describe the suspect as being in his late teens and wearing a dark green jacket.

No one is in custody, and detectives are investigating.
