NEAR NORTH SIDE — A Chicago-based developer paid $2.1 million for properties on Larrabee Street, with plans to build a 14-unit apartment building on one of them.

The Domain Group LLC bought 1311-1319 N. Larrabee St. from Regent Investment Inc. in November, city records show.

The properties are listed as part of the Clybourn Corridor by the leasing agents at Baum Realty Group.

A construction permit was recently issued to build a 14-unit apartment building with a ground-floor parking garage and commercial space at 1317 N. Larrabee St., totaling $2.8 million, according to city records.

The site faces the side of North Side Stranger's Home Missionary Baptist Church, 617 W. Evergreen Ave., which made headlines when its historic mural was whitewashed away.

Representatives from The Domain Group did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.

According to the developer's website, the building, which will offer 22 parking spaces, should be completed in the summer.

The developer is also building another residential project in River North at 1008 N. Larrabee St. complete with eight units, which should be completed in the spring.

The Larrabee Street project is minor compared to the dozens of other huge developments currently being built on the Near North Side. That includes the redevelopment of Cabrini-Green, which is officially underway now that developers are bidding on the first three parcels.

Real estate blog Curbed recently explored the greater Near North Side construction boom, which will bring hundreds of new units to the area.
