BRONZEVILLE — A new Advocate medical center to be constructed near Mercy Hospital has been cleared to begin the permit process with construction expected to be completed by the end of the year.
"We're clear to go for a permit now," said Brett Walrod, owner of the developer King Sykes, after the project was approved by the Plan Commission last week. He expected the permit process to take about four months, with construction to then start.
Walrod said he planned to "deliver the building to Advocate," set to be the sole tenant, by the end of the year, "and then they build out the space inside," to open next year.
The three-story, 45-foot-tall, 55,000-square-foot building will be located at 2545-55 S. King Drive, across the street from Mercy Hospital, and will add to the medical facilities in Bronzeville. Ald. Will Burns (4th) backed the project.
