CHICAGO — A 19-year-old Loyola student was shot while walking down Clark Street in Rogers Park Friday night, according to police.

The woman was walking to the store with other people in the 6700 block of North Clark Street at 9:15 p.m. when someone inside a gray Nissan Altima opened fire on the group, said Officer Janel Sedevic, Chicago Police spokeswoman.

She was struck in the back and was taken to Presence St. Francis Hospital where she is listed in serious condition, Sedevic said.

Loyola confirmed that the woman was a student, the university said in a crime alert.

No one is in custody, she said.
