MAGNIFICENT MILE — Even Iron Mike Ditka needs help sometimes. Like when he's buying a phone.
The former tight end and Super Bowl-winning coach of the Chicago Bears was spotted checking out phones Friday in the Mag Mile Verizon Store, 840 N. Michigan Ave. As you can see in the photo above, Ditka was assisted by an eager store employee.
Ditka, who's now a football analyst for ESPN, grew up in western Pennsylvania but has kept close ties here since he was drafted by the Bears in 1961. Though he was a Hall of Fame player, Ditka is probably best known as the sweater vest-donning, cigar-toking coach who led the Bears to their Super Bowl-winning season in 1985.
But he still has to go to the Verizon store for help like the rest of us mere humans.
