Robbers Targeting Albany Park Businesses, Police Issue Community Alert

ALBANY PARK — Multiple businesses in Albany Park have been targeted by armed robbers since the beginning of the year, prompting police to issue a community alert.

According to the Albany Park (17th) Police District, three armed robberies have taken place on Lawrence Avenue and Montrose Avenue between Jan. 3 and Jan. 16.

A single individual struck two of the businesses and the third was robbed by a pair of thieves. In all of the incidents, the robbers were armed with a handgun and demanded money from the cash register, police said.

In the two cases involving the lone robber, he was described as a Hispanic male, 20-30 years old, 160-180 pounds, between 5-foot 4-inches and 6-feet tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

In the third case, both robbers wore hooded sweatshirts partially covering their faces.

The robberies took place at:

• 3600 block of West Lawrence Avenue, 6:50 p.m., Jan. 3

• 3700 block of West Montrose Avenue, 10:48 p.m., Jan. 5

• 3800 block of West Lawrence Avenue, 4:05 a.m., Jan. 16
