'Southside With You,' Story of Obamas' First Date, To Debut at Sundance

CHICAGO — This movie is about the first date of America's first couple.

"Southside With You," a film about Barack Obama's first date with Michelle Robinson, will debut at the Sundance Film Festival Sunday after filming in several locations across Chicago last year.

Here's a clip from the film, in which Obama starts their first date by saying "It's not a date."

Director Richard Tanne said he wanted to make the movie after being "fascinated by that look that Barack and Michelle give each other."

His first feature film was shot in parts of Hyde Park, Altgeld Gardens and Downtown.

The movie probably isn't an accurate depiction of the couple's first official date, Its Sundance description admits it "takes plenty of poetic license."

One thing that will definitely be featured in the film: ice cream.

"On our first date, I treated her to the finest ice cream Baskin-Robbins had to offer, our dinner table doubling as the curb," Obama said in a February 2007 interview in magazine. "I kissed her, and it tasted like chocolate."
