ALBANY PARK — Expanding on its original Lakeview location, Brazilian Bowl opened its second outpost in Albany Park over the weekend.

Run by Tony Ferreira, a native Brazilian, the restaurant, at 3200 W. Lawrence Ave., specializes in affordable, hearty, authentic fare.

The signature menu item is feijoada. This national dish of Brazil is a stew of black beans, smoked sausage, bacon, rib meat, pork loin, rice, collard greens, farofa and pico de gallo.

Other popular entrees include the namesake bowls — rice, beans and cheese mixed with a choice of meat or veggies — and shrimp bobo, which features sauteed shrimp in a yucca-tinged sauce served over rice.

Empanadas, tacos, burgers and hot dogs round out the menu, with no item topping $10 in price.

Brazilian Bowl also carries a selection of Brazilian grocery items for purchase. The restaurant is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
