Police Issue Community Alert After Rash of Burglaries in Irving Park

IRVING PARK — Police are warning residents to make sure all windows and doors are locked after a string of burglaries in Irving Park.

The Albany Park (17th) Police District issued a community alert following four burglaries that took place in the neighborhood between Jan. 5 and Jan. 8. In each incident, the thieves gained access to a home by forcing open the rear door or a side window.

In addition to securing locks, police advised people to clear away items from windows, such as outdoor furniture or chairs, which burglars could use to gain entry into the house.

No description of any suspect was provided.

The burglaries took place at the following locations:

• 4300 block of North Lawndale Avenue, between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., Jan. 5

• 3800 block of West Cullom Avenue, between 7:45 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., Jan. 7

• 3700 block of West Cullom Avenue, at approximately 1:54 p.m., Jan. 7

• 3700 block of West Montrose Avenue, between 8:30 a.m. and 1:10 p.m., Jan. 8

Suspicious activity should be reported to 911. Provide as much detail about the thief or thieves as possible, including a vehicle description and license plate information.
