1 Killed, 10 Wounded in Shootings Since Wednesday Morning, Police Say

CHICAGO — One man was killed and 10 other people were hurt in shootings across the city between Wednesday morning and Thursday morning, police said.

Police found the man, 31, shot to death on a sidewalk in Roseland Wednesday night, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Earlier that evening, an 18-year-old man was shot in both legs in Little Village, Sedevic said.

A 26-year-old man was seriously wounded in a drive-by shooting Wednesday afternoon in Lincoln Square, police said.

• Most recently, at 1:55 a.m. Thursday morning, a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old were riding in a car in the 5100 block of South Princeton Avenue in Fuller Park when they heard gunshots and felt pain, Pacheco said.

Both teens were brought to Saint Bernard Hospital, where they were listed in good condition, Pacheco said. The 19-year-old was shot in the arm, and the 17-year-old was shot in the back.

Police said both teens were documented gang members and were not cooperating with authorities.

• Just after midnight, a man was shot in the shoulder while traveling southbound on the Dan Ryan Expressway, according to Sgt. Jason Bradley, an Illinois State Police spokesman.

The man was brought to Roseland Hospital, where his condition stabilized, after he was shot near the 79th Street exit, Bradley said.

• Around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, a 19-year-old man was walking with friends in the 4000 block of South Albany Avenue in Brighton Park when someone pulled up in a red sedan and shot at him, Pacheco said.

The man was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition with gunshot wounds in the shoulder and buttocks, Pacheco said.

Police said the man was a documented gang member.

• About 6:35 p.m., a 21-year-old man was walking in the 4700 block of South Vincennes Avenue when two men walked up and shot at him, Pacheco said.

The man was brought to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was in critical condition with a gunshot wound in the shoulder, Pacheco said.

• At 5:52 p.m., a 23-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman were standing outside a store in the 500 block of South Kostner Avenue in West Garfield Park when someone nearby shot at a car and hit them by accident, Pacheco said.

The man was brought to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in grave condition with a gunshot wound in the head, Pacheco said.

The woman was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was listed in fair condition with a gunshot wound in the side, Pacheco said.

• At 12:24 p.m., a 25-year-old man was standing at a bus stop in the 1200 block of North Western Avenue in East Garfield Park when someone pulled up alongside him in an SUV, yelled gang slogans and shot at him, Pacheco said.

The man was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition with a gunshot wound in the knee, Pacheco said.

Police said the man was a documented gang member, and he was not cooperating with authorities.
