CHICAGO — In a severe blow to the hopeless collective crush Chicagoans have nursed since April, Chicago Cubs heartthrob Kris Bryant announced Tuesday that he's ready to settle down.
The 2015 National League rookie of the year tweeted a photo of himself Tuesday embracing longtime girlfriend Jessica Delp, who sported a boulder-sized diamond ring while falling into the hypnotic vortex of the slugger's sweet, dreamy eyes.
Only took me 8 years, but I can't wait to marry my best friend! Perfect way to end an unforgettable year!💍 pic.twitter.com/S9QTLUPN9k

Bryant, who will turn 24 on Jan. 4, has been dating Delp since he was 16 years old. The couple grew up together in Las Vegas.
Lovesick baseball fans everywhere, and at least one of Bryant's teammates, reacted to the news with mixed messages of congratulations and crushing disappointment.

The couple can look forward to years of globe-trotting and Disney singalongs together ... during offseasons, at least. Bryant, who hit 26 home runs in his rookie season, will bring his bat back to Wrigley Field April 11 for the team's home opener against the Cincinnati Reds.
And for anyone having trouble letting go of the hope that Bryant will someday re-enter the single world, don't worry: Left fielder Kyle Schwarber is still on the market.
