UPTOWN — After defeating East Village/Noble Square in the Curbed Cup best neighborhood competition last week, Uptown has advanced to the final four.

The North Side neighborhood's progress is no "shocker considering how well Uptown has done in past Curbed Cup contests," according to the real estate and development blog. "However, Uptown better double down and prepare for a fierce challenge from the Pullman District."

The Curbed Cup squares off 16 neighborhoods in a single-elimination-style tournament to be crowned "Neighborhood of the Year." Winners are determined weekly by voting online at the real estate blog.

In round eight, Uptown defeated East Village, earning 575 votes to East Village's 353. In the first round, Uptown defeated Lincoln Park receiving 523 votes of the 811 votes cast. Lincoln Park received 288 votes, according to the results posted on the real estate and development blog.

The competition bills Uptown as "one of the quintessential" neighborhoods that "has also been a strong Curbed Cup contender since the competition began six years ago." The neighborhood made it to the third round last year, the website said, before losing to last year's champion — Logan Square.
