UPTOWN — Uptown defeated Lincoln Park in the first round of the annual Curbed Cup competition, which pits Chicago's neighborhoods against each other to determine the neighborhood of the year.
In the first round, Uptown defeated Lincoln Park receiving 523 votes of the 811 votes cast. Lincoln Park received 288 votes, according to the results posted on the real estate and development blog.
The competition bills Uptown as "one of the quintessential" neighborhoods that "has also been a strong Curbed Cup contender since the competition began six years ago." The neighborhood made it to the third round last year, the website said, before losing to last year's champion — Logan Square.
Logan Square, the number one seed this year, dropped out after the first round, losing to The Loop. The remaining neighborhoods include: Edgewater/Andersonville, The Loop, Hyde Park, Lakeview, East Village/Noble Square, Pullman and Bridgeport.
Uptown will take on East Village/Noble Square in the second round.
