BRIGHTON PARK — Deering District detectives are warning the neighborhood about a rash of burglaries that swept through the area in December.

The break-ins took place:

• At 3:30 p.m. Dec. 14 in the 2900 block of West 40th Street

• At 1 p.m. Dec. 15 in the 4000 block of South Rockwell

• At 5:30 a.m. Saturday in the 4200 block of South Kedzie Avenue

• At 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the 4200 block of South Kedzie Avenue

Here’s what Chicago Police say you can do to keep your homes and property safe:

• Keep your property well lit.

• Report all suspicious activity.

• Keep doors and windows secured.

• Immediately repair any broken windows, doors or locks.

• If video surveillance is available, make a copy of the footage of the crime for detectives.

• If your home is burglarized, do not touch anything. Call police instead.

• If you find witnesses, request their contact information for detectives.
