LINCOLN PARK — Package theft is like a box of chocolates — you never know what you're swiping.

One sticky-fingered bandit likely got way less than he or she bargained for after pilfering a box from a Lincoln Park stoop.

In a note posted by the homeowner, the contents of the package were revealed.

"Did you really need: my daughter's cloth diapers, her new hair bows, personalized photo mugs for the grandparents?" the victim asked.

With shoppers increasingly making purchases online, delivery theft has been on the rise as well, or at least it feels that way to frustrated consumers, who are striking back with more than just sharply worded scoldings.

Members of one Utah community have been stuffing decoy packages with rocks, old clothes and junk TVs to thwart holiday crooks. Then there was the Las Vegas man who filled a box with dog poop as retaliation against thieves.

All no doubt agree with the sentiments expressed by our Lincoln Park homeowner: "Hey package thieves, you suck!"
