PORTAGE PARK — An exhibit of self portraits will fill the walls of the Perkolator Cafe through Jan. 31.

The exhibit, curated by artist Sarah Peak Convery, is the first installation of A Shot of Art at Perkolator, a series of events at Perkolator designed to promote the work of artists who live in the area, organizers said.

The exhibit, titled "Form Fit: Re-examining the Self Portrait," features the work of Anita Olivia Koester and Magdalene Gorecki-Eisenberg.

The artists will discuss their work from 2-4 p.m. Jan. 17 at Perkolator, 6032 W. Irving Park Road, organizers said.

The artists behind the exhibit issued a call for submissions from photographers for an exhibit titled "Northwest Side State of Mind."

Photographers who live in the city north of Belmont Avenue and west of Pulaski Road are invited to submit work that has the Northwest Side as its central theme.

"What do you see when you walk our streets?" asks the request for submissions. "Show us your perspective on your everyday surroundings."

The deadline is Jan. 21. Submissions of no more than five photos and a brief statement that explains the artist's connection to the Northwest Side should be sent to jembusfoto@comcast.net with the exhibit title in the email's subject line.
