
LINCOLN SQUARE — The Chicago Transit Authority has an early Christmas gift for riders: Monday's return of express bus service on Ashland and Western avenues.
The No. X9 Ashland and No. X49 Western routes will run weekdays only during morning and afternoon rush hours. Look for bus stop signs marked with the "X."
Buses will stop approximately every half mile, and at bus and rail transfer points. Click here for a map.
Hours for the No. X9 Ashland:
• 95th Street to Sheridan Red Line: 6-9 a.m., 3-6 p.m.
• Sheridan Red Line to 95th Street: 6-9:04 a.m., 3:04-6:04 p.m.
Hours for the No. X49 Western:
• 79th Street to Berwyn: 5:30-9 a.m., 2:30-5:30 p.m.
• Berwyn to 79th Street: 6-9 a.m., 2:30-5:30 p.m.
CTA estimates the express buses will save riders as many as 17 minutes along the routes.
