CHICAGO — The bodies of two men were found in the water in different parts of the city Saturday, police said.

First, around 9:30 a.m., police responded to a call in the 5800 block of South Cornell Avenue, where they found the body of a "man appearing to be in his 20s" floating in the Jackson Park Lagoon, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office later identified the man as Jamil Sharif, 49, of South Chicago.

The cause of death was not immediately available.

About three hours later, police spotted a man floating in the Chicago River at the 200 block of South Riverside Plaza, Estrada said. The man was pronounced dead after he was recovered from the water.

Area Central detectives are conducting a non-criminal death investigation for both men, Estrada said.
