CHICAGO — A 28-year-old man shot Tuesday in Austin has died from his injuries, according to police and the medical examiner.

Kenneth Turner was on the sidewalk in the 300 block of South Cicero Avenue at 8 a.m. Tuesday in Austin when a man dressed in black walked up and shot at him before fleeing northbound through an alley, police said.

Turner, of the 3100 block of West Warren Boulevard, was struck in his head and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, police said.

He died in the hospital Wednesday at 3:44 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

No one is in custody.
