CHICAGO — Nine men and two women were hurt in eight shootings on the South and West sides Tuesday, police said.

Three of those shootings occurred in Humboldt Park, according to Officer Nicole Trainor, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

• Outside Humboldt Park, the latest shooting occurred around 7 p.m. in the 800 block of West 95th Street in Washington Heights, where a 19-year-old man heard seven gunshots and felt pain, Trainor said.

The man was brought to Little Company of Mary Hospital, where he was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound in his left ankle, police said.

• Around 6:15 p.m., three people were standing in the 1600 block of West 53rd Street in Back of the Yards when a man came out of an alley and shot at them, Trainor said.

An 18-year-old man was shot in his left leg, a 21-year-old woman was shot in her left leg and a 19-year-old man was shot in his buttocks and right thigh, Trainor said.

All three were taken to Stroger Hospital, where they were treated and released, Trainor said.

Police said the 18-year-old is a documented gang member.

• About two hours earlier, two men were sitting in a car in the 6600 block of South May Avenue in Englewood when a man emerged from an alley and shot at them before fleeing northbound in a two-tone brown van, Trainor said.

One man, 24, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound in his left leg, Trainor said.

The other man, 23, refused medical attention after being grazed in his left arm, Trainor said.

• About 1:30 p.m., a 22-year-old woman was sitting in her car in the 11300 block of South Prairie Avenue in Roseland when a man walked up and fired a gun in her direction, Trainor said.

A family member drove the woman to Roseland Hospital, where she was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound in her left hand, Trainor said.

Police said they believe the shooting was gang-related.

• Around 8 a.m., a 28-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 300 block of South Cicero Avenue in Austin when a man dressed in black walked up and shot at him before fleeing northbound through an alley, Trainor said.

The man was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition with a gunshot wound in his head, Trainor said.
