Animated Skyline Shows Fun Facts About Chicago's Famous Buildings

DOWNTOWN — A new infographic on Chicago's skyline offers fun facts on Downtown towers from Aqua to the Aon Center.

Chicago Line Cruises launched Monday its "Explore the Chicago Skyline" website, a scrollable guide for anyone who's ever gazed at one of the city's defining buildings while drawing a blank on what it's called.

The interactive graphic, which shares the height, year built, and other facts on 37 notable buildings, is meant to complement, not compromise, the company's riverboat tours

"Everybody has a mobile phone or something today, so this will just add to their total experience," said Ed Mazur, a Chicago Line tour guide.

Mazur, a retired history teacher who's been an architectural tour guide for about 20 years, said he even learned some new info scrolling through the website: "I learned that I didn't know as much as I thought."

One omission from the graphic, however: addresses. So anyone who wants to find one of these towers offline will have to pocket their phone and look up.
