Christmas Markets, Music Festivals Happening This Weekend in Uptown Area

UPTOWN AND ANDERSONVILLE — There are tons of live music and holiday cheer to go around this weekend in Uptown and Andersonville.

Here's a quick peek at some of things happening around the 'hood this weekend including Late Night Andersonville, three days of live music at the Aragon Ballroom and a Scandinavian Christmas Market.

Friday

Winter Walk on Wilson: Business Partners, the Chamber for Uptown, invites residents to the walk on Wilson Avenue featuring live music, treats, deals, Santa and a tree lighting ceremony at Baker and Nosh. Participating businesses include Everybody's Coffee, Pala's Grill, Aardvark Insurance, Public Barber and Heritage Outpost. From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Various locations along Wilson Avenue in Uptown. Tree lighting begins at 7 p.m. at 1303 W. Wilson Ave.

101WKQX's The Night We Stole Christmas Concerts at the Aragon Ballroom: Friday's performances for the weekend-long festival of music includes performances from Bastille, the Wombats and Circa Waves. Tickets are $35. Aragon Ballroom, 1106 W. Lawrence Ave.

Late Night Andersonville: More than 40 businesses will stay open late Friday for a holiday celebration featuring live music, great deals, gift making classes, treats, cocktails and, of course, a visit from Santa. For more details click here. 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Along Clark Street in Andersonville.

Saturday

Live Music at Wilson Abbey: The auditorium at Wilson Abbey will sport headliner Exegesis along with Anti-World System and Leper for a night of heavy metal, garage and Goth music. 935 W. Wilson Ave. Free. 7 p.m.

Julmarknad at the Swedish American Museum: The annual Christmas market features traditional Scandinavian food, entertainment and goods such as holiday decorations, books and toys. A full list of vendors is available here. The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Sunday. The full list of performers is available here. Tomten (or Santa) will be there from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. both days. 5211 N. Clark St.

Sunday

Lake Shore Community Orchestra Holiday Concert: The Lake Shore Community Orchestra, which is a non-profit community orchestra located on the North Side, will performing side-by-side with the Northside Youth Symphony for a holiday concert at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Andersonville. The famiy-friendly event will feature holiday classics and favorites for all ages. Tickets for adults are $10 and tickets for children are $5. 4 p.m. 1650 W. Foster Ave.
