LINCOLN PARK — An endangered species monkey was born at the Lincoln Park Zoo this week.

The monkey — who as of yet is of unknown sex and has not been named — belongs to the Francois' langur species, which is considered endangered.

Right now, the primate has bright orange fur, but it will fade to black within three to six months.

The baby is the latest offspring for parents Pumpkin and Cartman, joining siblings Kieu, Orla and Pierre and an adult female Chi.

The Francois' langur species live in the southern Guangxi province of China, northern Vietnam and west-central Laos. The zoo says the species is endangered due to habitat loss and hunting.

For those who want a peek at the baby, who is currently clinging on to the adult females, visit the Helen Branch Primate House daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lincoln Park Zoo.
