CHICAGO — Chicagoans aren't afraid of the cold ... right?

Nike is inviting notoriously proud Chicagoans to train outdoors this winter as part of the Get Out Here challenge.

And they're not leaving us high and dry, so to speak.

The company has created a "floating gym," a futuristic-looking lit-up river barge, and is hosting free training sessions from Dec. 9-12, according to a news release Friday.

The venue, 35 E. Riverwalk South (at Wabash and Wacker), offers training and running sessions from Nike Master Trainers and Nike+ Run Club Coaches.

Registration opens at 10:30 a.m. Saturday here.

Nike will also host a competition Dec. 12 in which 48 athletes with "weather-defying" skills from across North America will compete for a spot in another Nike challenge in 2016.
