Old Town's Fifth Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Set For Dec. 1

OLD TOWN — The fifth annual Old Town tree lighting ceremony is set for next week. 

The Old Town Merchants & Residents Association is hosting the free event at Burton Place Park, 1501 N. Wells St., on Dec. 1 from 5 - 6:30 p.m.

In addition to Christmas cheer, there will be sweet treats from Fudge Pot, music from the Franklin Fine Arts Center chorus and radio hits, as well as a "special visitor from the North Pole," according to the neighborhood organization.

While admission is free, the organization is encouraging folks to give back by donating non-perishable food items, household supplies, toiletries and women's outwear to a charity drive, which will run from Dec. 1 - 22.
