LINCOLN PARK — One discounted home goods store is being replaced by another on a retail-heavy stretch of Clybourn Avenue.

HomeGoods is moving into the former Crate & Barrel Outlet, 1864 N. Clybourn Ave., Ald. Michele Smith's 43rd Ward office confirmed Tuesday.

The national retailer, which operates more than 500 locations across the country, applied for a business license on Oct. 6, city records show. The alderman's office could not provide an opening date.

HomeGoods sells an array of affordable house goods, ranging from furniture and decorations to kitchen and bathroom accessories.

A representative with HomeGoods could not confirm the opening, saying said she "did not have any information to confirm new store openings" in the area.

The retailer's only other city location is 2731 N. Elston Ave., but it operates many locations in the suburbs, according to its website.
