MAGGIE DALEY PARK — Grab your skates: The ice ribbon at Maggie Daley Park is back.

A line to rent skates at the popular ice ribbon, 337 E. Randolph St., was already well out the door 10 minutes after it opened at noon Wednesday. A Chicago Park District employee working the park's clubhouse said the ribbon opened for its second season Monday.

The ribbon will have special hours Friday: 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

One visitor had already posted a whimiscal video on the ribbon's grand reopening on YouTube.

The ribbon will be open from noon-8 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, noon-10 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturdays (until Jan. 3, when it will close at 9 p.m. Saturdays), and 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sundays.

Admission is free, but skate rentals cost $12 per person, and lockers are $2 each. Here are the ribbon's holiday hours:

• Christmas Eve: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

• Christmas Day: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

• New Year's Eve, Martin Luther King Day, Lincoln's Birthday (Feb. 12): 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

• New Year's Day: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.

Sisters Navya and Divya Mohlajee, 20, of suburban Oak Park were near the back of the rental line Wednesday. The sisters said they were on break from school, and had never skated on the ribbon — or anywhere Downtown.

"I used to skate a lot," Navya Mohlajee said. "I gotta go on the ice to see if I still can."
