CHICAGO — One person has died and six others were wounded — including a 16-year-old girl — in shootings since Monday, according to police.

In the fatality, a 24-year-old man was killed after being shot in the back in Portage Park Monday night, police said.

The 16-year-old girl was wounded after she was shot in Brighton Park late Monday, police said.

In other shootings:

• A 35-year-old man was wounded in a West Garfield Park attempted robbery Monday night, said Officer Jose Estrada, Chicago Police spokesman. The man was in the 4200 block of West Van Buren Street at 10:40 p.m. when he was approached by two men who wanted to rob him, Estrada said.

The man was shot in the upper right leg after a struggle, Estrada said. No property was stolen as the robbers fled after firing the gun, Estrada said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

• A 19-year-old man was shot in South Shore Monday night, Estrada said. The man was on the sidewalk in the 2600 block of East 74th Street around 7:50 p.m. when he heard shots and felt pain, Estrada said.

He was struck in the back and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, Estrada said.

• A 20-year-old man shot himself in South Lawndale Monday, Estrada said. Police responded to a call of a person shot in the 1500 block of South Tripp Avenue around 7:50 p.m. when they saw the man with a wound to his leg, Estrada said.

The man changed his story multiple times before being uncooperative with police, Estrada said. The department believes the shooting to be self-inflicted, he said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in "stable" condition, Estrada said.

• A 39-year-old man was shot in Belmont Cragin Monday evening in what police are describing as a drug deal gone bad. The man was talking with an acquaintance in the 6600 block of West Grand Avenue at 5:20 p.m. when an argument broke out and gun went off, Estrada said.

The man was struck in his left thigh and was taken to Loyola Hospital in critical condition, Estrada said.

• A 24-year-old man was shot in the Back of the Yards Monday afternoon, Estrada said.

The man was in the 5100 block of South Racine Avenue at 1:35 p.m. when a black SUV came to a stop and someone inside opened fire, Estrada said. He was struck in his right leg and was taken to St. Bernard Hospital in "stable" condition, Estrada said.

No arrests have been made in any of the incidents, Estrada said.
