DOWNTOWN — This season's opening of the Maggie Daley Park ice ribbon has been pushed back due to warm weather, but there's still a chance it could open very soon.

The popular Downtown ice ribbon, 337 E. Randolph St., is now expected to open Nov. 27 — weather permitting — along with the rest of the Chicago Park District's outdoor ice rinks, said Jessica Maxey-Faulkner, a park district spokeswoman.

But, Maxey-Faulkner added, the ribbon could open sooner if the climate takes a cold turn sooner. Chicago is expected to receive two to six inches of snow this weekend.

The ice ribbon, which debuted late last year, was slated to open Nov. 14, but conditions were too warm, Maxey-Faulkner said. For those who can't wait to skate: the outdoor rink at nearby Millennium Park, which is owned by the City of Chicago, opened last week.
