NORTH CENTER — North Center's dining scene is heating up with the announcement of KICK, set to open in the former Sola location by the end of the month.

The restaurant, 1943 W. Byron St., will feature a fusion of fiery cuisines from around the globe, offering a menu influenced by flavors from Mexico, Vietnam, India, Peru, Argentina and Italy. Palates should be prepared to handle dishes spiced with all manner of peppers, hot mustard, cumin, wasabi and ginger, among others.

Douse the flames with one of a dozen beers on tap or a craft cocktail. KICK plans to stock its bar with spirits from smaller distilleries, including Rhine Hall Distillery on the Near West Side.

KICK is the brainchild of twin sisters Kim Prusa and Kristin Albert and their husbands Dave Prusa and Fred Albert. The foursome's combined restaurant experience includes gigs ranging from Cheesecake Factory to Sweetwater Tavern and Grille.

KICK will be open seven days a week, including brunch on weekends.
