HYDE PARK — First Unitarian Church is hosting a free screening of movie the filmmaker says shows incontrovertible evidence of climate change.

The church at 5650 S. Woodlawn Ave. will screen “Chasing Ice” at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

The film is the project of National Geographic photographer James Balog and his use of time-lapse photography to show the decline of glaciers and ice in the Arctic.

It chronicles Balog’s travails with the untested technology while scaling the icy landscape of the Arctic and Iceland and the results of his experiments.

The screening is free and open to the public.
