LINCOLN PARK — A ceremony to celebrate a stretch of Dickens Avenue being named after Lincoln Park's "every man," Richard "Dickie" Harris, is set for Saturday.

The ceremony will be held at Lincoln Central Park at the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Dickens Street at 2 p.m.

It was designed to celebrate the stretch of Dickens Avenue between Lincoln Avenue and Larrabee Street becoming Richard "Dickie" Harris Way.

Harris was longtime ad man, creative writer and beloved community activist. For about 30 years, Harris worked for the city's top advertising agencies. He also wrote plays for prominent theater companies in town and was responsible for many community events still held today.

Ald. Michele Smith (43rd) will be at the ceremony, as will family, friends and members of the community who knew him. There will be light refreshments, including hors d'oeuvres and beverages.

Harris loved doo-wop, so the folks behind the ceremony arranged for doo-wop group, Stormy Weather, to perform around 2:30 p.m.
