1 Dead, 8 Wounded In Gun Violence Since Sunday, Police Say

CHICAGO — One man was killed and eight people were wounded — including a 10-year-old boy — in shootings since Sunday morning, according to police.

A 23-year-old man was fatally shot early Sunday in Little Village, according to police.

The 10-year-old boy was struck in his hip after a shooter opened fire on a group of men in Greater Grand Crossing, police said. He is listed in good condition at Comer Children's Hospital.

• Most recently, a 23-year-old woman was shot in Humboldt Park early Monday, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. She was outside by her boyfriend's car in the 1400 block of North Lawndale at 1:05 a.m. when a man came from a nearby alley and opened fire. The woman was struck in her leg and was taken by her boyfriend to Norwegian American Hospital before being transferred to Stroger Hospital in "stable" condition, Pacheco said.

According to police, the woman's boyfriend is a documented gang member.

• A 26-year-old man was wounded in an Austin shooting Sunday night, Pacheco said. The man was in the 5400 block of West Van Buren Street at 8:50 p.m. when a car approached and a shooter got out of the car started shooting, Pacheco said. He was struck in both legs and took himself to Loretto Hospital before being transferred to Stroger Hospital in "stable" condition, Pacheco said.

• A 19-year-old man was shot in Auburn Gresham Sunday night, Pacheco said. He was on the sidewalk in the 8400 block of South Honore Street at 7:10 p.m. when shots rang out, Pacheco said. The man was struck in his left leg and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition, Pacheco said.

• A 23-year-old man was shot in Grand Boulevard Sunday afternoon, Pacheco said. The man was in a backyard in the 4900 block of South Champlain Avenue around 4:15 p.m. when he heard shots and felt pain, Pacheco said. He was shot in his buttocks and managed to take himself to Provident Hospital, where he was listen in "stable" condition, Pacheco said.

• A 23-year-old man was injured in a Fuller Park shooting Sunday afternoon, Pacheco said. The man was with a group of people in an alley in the 5000 block of South Princeton Avenue around 12:35 p.m. when three men approached the group and opened fire, Pacheco said. He was struck in the torso and was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, Pacheco said. Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• Two 16-year-old boys were shot in West Englewood Sunday morning, Pacheco said. The boys were in the 7000 block of South Wood Street at 10:47 a.m. when two men walked up and opened fire, Pacheco said. One of the boys was struck in his left leg and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in "stable" condition, Pacheco said. The other boy suffered a graze wound to his leg and refused medical attention, Pacheco said.

The boy with a graze wound is a documented gang member, police said.

No arrests have been made in any of these cases, as investigations are ongoing, Pacheco said.
