LINCOLN PARK — The Tie Bar on Armitage Avenue doesn't look like a pop-up men's accessories shop anymore.
Last week over the course of four days, the flagship shop, 918 W. Armitage Ave., was closed while it underwent a full interior makeover to celebrate its one-year anniversary in the neighborhood. The Tie Bar was originally meant to be a temporary shop, but now it's a permanent location and the folks at Tie Bar wanted a new design to reflect that.
New lighting, including a chandelier made with 50 reclaimed vintage glass bottles, custom wood fixtures, new displays and a new wedding bar area for grooms are just some of the upgrades.
The Tie Bar is one of many online retailers that have opened brick-and-mortar shops along Armitage Avenue in Lincoln Park. Nearby shops like Bonobos, 845 W. Armitage Ave.; Interior Define, 833 W. Armitage Ave.; and Warby Parker, 851 W. Armitage Ave., all started online.
The tie company is expanding, with temporary locations in Washington, D.C. and New York City.
