CHICAGO — While you hunker down inside and try not to think about the possible flurries in the forecast tomorrow, here are some event options:

Check Out A Haunted House For Kids: Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School will again host its Not-So-Haunted House from 4-6 p.m. today. Students from the all-girls Catholic high school at 3737 W. 99th St. in Mount Greenwood will put on a variety of activities, including face painting, games, a princess photo booth and the signature not-so-haunted house. Recommended for children from pre-school to third grade. Cost: $2 per child, adults free.

Sip on an American Beer: It's National American Beer Day! To celebrate, Revival Social Club in Edgewater is giving patriotic drinkers half-priced American-made brews between 4-6 p.m. If it's on draft, it was brewed right here in the U.S., Revival says. Revival Social Club, 1133 W. Granville Ave., draft beers half-priced between 4-6 p.m.

It's Also National Chocolate Day: Act accordingly by grabbing a sundae or other sweets at the new Ghirardelli store in the Wrigley Building, 400-410 N. Michigan Ave. Be sure to grab a seat upstairs and watch tourists walk around in the rain. Ghirardelli, 400 N. Michigan Ave., open until 10 p.m.

Get Freaked out With a Free "Friday the 13th" Showing: It's neither Friday nor the 13th, but that shouldn't stop you from heading over to New 400 Theater in Rogers Park for a free screening of the classic 1980 film. True "Jason" fans know this film is set apart in the series for one not-so-maternal reason. Halloween-themed cocktails will be for sale to accompany your trek to Camp Crystal Lake. New 400 Theater, 6746 N. Sheridan Rd., Movie begins at 9:30 p.m., First-come, first-serve, free.

Get Inspired With Other CPS Parents:  A 90-minute documentary, "Beyond Measure," takes a deep dive into the American education system and highlights public schools who are daring to re-imagine education.  The film puts a spotlight on "schools that are breaking away from an outmoded, test-driven education are shaping a new vision for our classrooms," according to Reel Link Films. Tickets are $10 online; proceeds go to offset licensing fees. Concessions will offer food and drinks. From 7 to 9 p.m. with post screening discussion. A.N. Pritzker School, 2009 W. Schiller St.
