HUMBOLDT PARK — A puppy that had been rescued from an alleged dog fighting ring has now been stolen from his foster home, an animal rescue group said.

Yellow, a 9-week-old pit bull puppy which had been living at a foster home near the corner of California and Cortez for one month, was stolen in a home burglary, along with personal items that belonged to his foster owners, said Kelsey Francis, a volunteer board member with New Leash on Life Chicago.

Yellow was part of a group of 17 dogs rescued from a suspected dog fighting ring in September, Francis said. New Leash on Life took in seven of the puppies and their mom, and after caring for them and weaning them, found them foster homes.

The burglary happened Friday between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and a police report has been filed, Francis said.

Francis described Yellow as a small puppy, healthy and chubby, and tan with a white stripe down the center of his face.
