CHICAGO — Wednesday night was rough for Cubs fans, who watched their beloved team come to far only to be swept by New Yorkers, of all people.
While a few fans left Wrigley Field early, perhaps disheartened by the Mets getting four runs in the first inning, the majority of them stayed through the very bitter end.
Even as the Mets increased their lead over the Cubs, fans never turned on the team.
Patty Wetli discusses the atmosphere at Wrigley last night:
"People waving their white towels, looked like the best kind of Chicago blizzard," Lincoln Square reporter Patty Wetli said. "We were saying it in the stands and I saw people posting this on Facebook: Well, we're letting the Mets score so many runs just so our comeback will be even more epic!"
And as the Mets celebrated in the field, they chanted to let their team know they still love them:
